Chi-city has produced yet another promising young hip hop artist, Yung Berg. The self proclaimed Prince of the Chi has finally dropped the long awaited debut album Look What You Made Me featuring artists such as Twista, Ray J, Trey Songz, and Casha. I say “finally” because the album includes “Sexy Lady”, a track we first heard almost a year ago. The fans of the single “Sexy Can I” will be happy because the album includes that single as well as a lot of other fresh fire beats.
At the age of 22, Christian Ward, better known by his stage name Yung Berg, is well on his way to the top. Yung Berg had previously been signed to DMX’s Bloodline Records as Ice Berg and was featured on the Exit Wounds soundtrack. Yung Berg previously got his first lick of the music business at the age of 15. With his first bite of success, this unfortunately left a bad taste in his parents’ mouths, which led to a mandatory relocation to military school in 2001. With no television or radio this later became a blessing in disguise. This forced him to develop and hone his own style all by himself, free from the hip hop world and culture at that time. Now a little older and a lot wiser, Yung Berg signed to Epic Records who is releasing his debut album, Look What You Made Me.
This album includes fire tracks like “Sexy Can I” featuring Ray J which I’m sure you all have heard if you listen to the radio at all. Another powerhouse track on the album is “Sexy Lady” with its catchy hook. It’s another prime example of the hot production work portrayed on this album. With this album, I believe he is really reaching and attempting to grab a wide range of the hip hop audience with female-friendly hooks on the track “The Business” featuring Casha. This album also grabs the male audience with tracks like “Do That There” featuring Dude ‘N Em and “Where Do We Go” featuring Twista. With all that said this album is fire and Yung Berg is well on his way to becoming the next generation’s voice of hip hop.
